March Get-Together

It was Egg Extravaganza time at the March monthly get-together on Saturday with a treasure hunt and egg & spoon races. About 65 people turned up to get their Jam on and support the StarJam community.

To avoid things getting too messy, the races were run with orange ping pong balls instead of eggs which did prove quite a challenge on a windy day. Contestants showed some "creativeness" with the rules which kept "head official" (Roy!) on his toes. Slow and steady was how to win this one!!
The treasure hunt was a big success with Cadbury supplying the chocolatey marshmallow goodness.
The afternoon ended with a FreeJam and some lovely performances that had the crown joining in.
Another great get-together!!

Gigs and Launches

Thank you to the Taiwanese in NZ Association for their performance invite at the weekend. A handful of the Velvets sang at the Association's Auckland AGM after a member was blown away by our gig at the 2010 NZer of the Year performance.

The Velvets stayed for a lovely lunch as well!

Thanks to Yutong & Roy for all their organising.

Feb Open Day - Auckland

What a super day! Great to see so many of you and brilliant to meet all the new people and their families.

We presented a couple of very special family HERO Awards and four lovely young people brand new to StarJam got up at Open Jam and showed off their talents .... AWEsome!

Bonnie brought her new puppy who is in training to help her do lots of things like take off her socks and pick things up off the floor. He is GAWjus ... and Liane didn't read the sign that says "Don't Pet me Please" so apologies AGAIN!

A big thank you to Isaac and Simon for their MC duties, Gavin & Roy for keeping the sounds straight & Old Fashioned Foods, Pete's Packaging, Cerebos, Coffee News & our friends at nbr.co.nz for helping us make it such a beaut day.

Who is Sian Davies?

The lovely Sian Thomas was in the North Shore Times this week ... or was she?

This cute pic of Sian and Thea and a great little story all about what Sian is up to talked about a Sian Davies! OOPS!

Lisa from the North Shore Times has rung Sian and apologised for the mix-up ... but the wrong name is not going to stop Sian from sending copies of the paper to her Grandad and Uncle who live in Christchurch.

2010 NZer of the Year

The Dynamic Drummers & the Velvets WoWed the audience at the 2010 NZer of the Year Awards.
A big thank you to everyone who helped us pull this off as well as the organisers for inviting us! Our team of Gary, Darryl, Jen, Keni, Ngaire, Arwen, Phillip + Tess and her Cut Above crew were, as usual, too cool for school.
Julie and Roy were in the audience with some of our trustees who all enjoyed the performance. And when Jessie & Liane were making their way back from the Green Room after the gig, all sorts of people were saying how much they enjoyed it. One gent said it was the highlight of his evening!

Don't forget we have our very first ever StarJam Open Day on Saturday Feb 27th at Western Springs Garden Community Hall ... Simon Dallow and our very own Isaac Toafa will be our MCs. Stay tuned for more deets.
